About Carve2

Carve2 is a custom wood carving studio based in Onsted, Michigan, established in 1995, specializing in chainsaw carvings, stump carvings, totem poles, and commissioned wood artwork. Every project is created with a hands-on approach that combines creativity, craftsmanship, and respect for the natural character of wood.

Located at
7779 US 12, Onsted, MI 49265, Carve2 serves homeowners, businesses, property owners, and organizations looking for unique carved pieces that stand out from mass-produced décor. Whether transforming an existing tree stump into a sculpture or creating a custom free-standing carving, the goal is always the same: to create durable, one-of-a-kind artwork that reflects the customer's vision while showcasing the beauty of the wood itself.

The Story Behind Carve2

Wood has a unique ability to tell a story. Every log, stump, and piece of timber carries its own grain patterns, textures, knots, and natural characteristics developed over decades of growth. Carve2 was built on the idea that these natural features should become part of the artwork rather than be hidden or removed.

Instead of treating wood as a uniform material, each project begins by studying the shape, condition, and character of the piece being carved. These natural elements often influence the final design and help create carvings that feel authentic and connected to the material they come from.

The name Carve2 reflects a commitment to craftsmanship and the continual pursuit of improvement through experience, creativity, and hands-on work.

A Rustic Approach to Wood Carvin

Carve2 specializes in rustic carving techniques that celebrate texture and natural form.

Using tools such as chainsaws, grinders, gouges, and carving tools, projects are shaped with both efficiency and artistic intention. The finished result is not meant to look machine-made or overly polished. Instead, carvings retain the bold textures, tool marks, and organic character that make chainsaw carving and wood sculpture unique.

This approach appeals to customers looking for artwork that feels natural, handcrafted, and full of personality.

Whether the project is a wildlife carving, decorative sculpture, custom sign, or totem pole, Carve2 focuses on creating pieces that work with the wood rather than against it.

Stump Carvings

Rather than removing an old tree stump, many property owners choose to transform it into a lasting piece of art.

Carve2 evaluates the stump's condition before carving begins to ensure it is suitable for the project. Stump carvings can feature wildlife, decorative designs, custom themes, or personalized concepts that complement the surrounding landscape.

Custom Totem Poles

Totem poles are a popular option for customers looking to create something truly unique.

Carve2 works with customers to develop custom designs based on personal interests, family themes, wildlife, symbols, or reference images provided by the customer.

For totem pole projects, customers are responsible for site preparation and arranging for the log to be professionally positioned before carving begins.

Each commissioned project is developed through consultation, design planning, and collaboration to ensure the finished carving reflects the customer's vision.

Commitment to Quality

Every carving created by Carve2 is unique.

Because wood is a natural material, no two projects will ever be exactly alike. Variations in grain, texture, coloration, and shape contribute to the character of each piece and help create truly original artwork.

Carve2 is committed to producing carvings that are:

  • Durable
  • Creative
  • Individually designed
  • Structurally appropriate for the material
  • Honest to the natural character of the wood

The goal is not to mass-produce identical pieces but to create artwork that customers can enjoy for years to come.
